Barcelona’S New Transfer Strategy: “he Dreams of Playing for Us”
Barcelona have reportedly opened talks over a possible move for Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi. And once again, the most important part of the story is not the fee, negotiations or financial reality.
It is the dream.
According to reports from COPE, the 20-year-old French talent would love to move to Camp Nou. A familiar storyline has already started: the player wants Barcelona, the player dreams of Barcelona, the player sees Barcelona as a dream destination.
Sounds familiar? It should.
The same script appeared around Julián Álvarez, when reports suggested the Argentine striker wanted to make his “dream move” to Barcelona. The only small detail missing from the fairytale was that Atlético Madrid, just like any normal football club, preferred an actual transfer fee instead of a heartfelt message about childhood dreams.
Now Kroupi has entered the story. The problem? Bournemouth reportedly want around €130 million for their young star. A number that might force Barcelona’s accountants to check if dreams can finally be registered as a new source of income.
Barcelona appear to have created a new transfer formula: first convince everyone that the player wants to come. Then explain why that emotional connection should lower the price. And finally hope the selling club forgets that football is still a business.
The problem is simple. Players can dream for free. Clubs don’t sell for free.
Julián Álvarez’s “dream move” never happened. Now Kroupi could become the next chapter in Barcelona’s favourite transfer saga: a beautiful dream meeting an extremely expensive reality.
