Deco finally joins Flick. The transfers are still “in progress”

Deco has finally joined Barcelona’s training camp at St George’s Park. According to Mundo Deportivo, the sporting director was originally expected in England on Wednesday but kept postponing the trip because of work commitments. Presumably, he had to make sure every transfer remained exactly where it was.

Deco will now meet Hansi Flick and update him on the club’s various operations. The German will probably hear that talks are ongoing, the situation is complicated, Barça are assessing their options and everything depends on player sales. In other words, Barcelona’s entire transfer report could have been sent in a text message.

The training camp ends on Monday, so Deco still has time to explain why every deal is “close”, “moving in the right direction” and, naturally, “in progress”. At Barcelona, a transfer does not necessarily have to happen. Its status just has to sound promising.
