Tottenham Join the Race for Ferran
Ferran Torres is important to Barcelona. The club want to keep him, plan to discuss a new contract and insist that Hansi Flick is counting on him. At the same time, the Spaniard is not guaranteed a place in the starting eleven, should not expect a pay rise and remains available for the right price. At Barça, trust appears to last until a suitable offer arrives.
According to TeamTalk, as cited by SPORT and Barça Universal, Tottenham have now joined PSG in the race for Ferran. The English club have contacted his representatives to explore a possible return to the Premier League. PSG are still considered the favourites, while Barcelona reportedly want at least €55 million — the same amount they originally paid Manchester City.
Either outcome can be presented as part of the plan. If Ferran stays, he can play through the middle because Barcelona still have not signed Robert Lewandowski’s replacement. If he leaves, the club will receive money to search for a striker they may or may not manage to sign. Torres is expected to make his decision before returning to training on August 10. Only then will he discover whether he is part of the project or the budget for it.
