PSG Show Ferran the Love Barça Promised
Ferran Torres recently said Barcelona needed to show that they truly wanted him. The club’s answer was reportedly contract talks in September and no major pay rise. PSG moved faster: Luis Enrique presented the forward with a clear sporting project and promised him an important role. Love in Paris apparently does not have to wait until the transfer window closes.
According to Sport journalist Tomàs Andreu, the 26-year-old has given PSG the green light to proceed with the deal. Contact has been ongoing since late July, with an official offer expected to reach Barcelona in the coming days. Club-to-club negotiations have not started yet, but all parties want the situation resolved before Ferran returns to training next week.
Barcelona officially still want to extend his contract. At the same time, they will not stand in his way if a suitable offer arrives. It is a remarkably flexible form of affection: Ferran is important, valued and wanted—unless PSG pay enough.
The money raised from his sale could help Barça pursue Julián Álvarez or Rodri. Barcelona can therefore show Ferran how much they value him by selling him to finance somebody else. PSG get their forward, Barça get more money for another dream and all those promises about a new contract can quietly disappear into the archives.
