Mikautadze Gives Barça the Green Light as Plan B Takes Shape
Barcelona are preparing for the possibility that their pursuit of Julián Álvarez ends without a deal. According to a fresh Forbes report citing Jijantes, SPORT and local Valencia-region media, Georges Mikautadze has already agreed to join Barça after Deco made contact with his representatives.
The Villarreal striker is still considered an alternative rather than Barcelona’s first choice. Álvarez remains the priority for Deco and Hansi Flick, but Atlético’s refusal to negotiate has forced Barça to keep another route open. Villarreal are reportedly looking for around €60–65 million.
For once, Barcelona appear to be preparing the backup before the main operation actually collapses. There is still one fairly important detail missing, though: an agreement with Villarreal. At this stage, the reported breakthrough concerns the player’s willingness to move, not a completed transfer between the clubs.
