Real Madrid are preparing a €590m poker. Mourinho finally has everyone
José Mourinho finally has what he has been waiting for throughout most of preseason. Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, Yan Diomande and Jude Bellingham are all available at the same time, and Sunday’s friendly against Schalke 04 could provide the first look at the quartet together. According to AS, their combined current Transfermarkt valuation stands at €590 million.
The numbers explain the excitement. Last season, the four combined for 85 goals and 36 assists — 121 goal contributions in total. Mbappé produced 42 goals and seven assists, Vinícius 22 and 14, Diomande 13 and 10, while Bellingham managed eight goals and five assists despite a campaign interrupted by injuries. That does not automatically make them an unstoppable attack. Mourinho still has to work out how to fit all that firepower into one functioning team.
AS reports that the Portuguese coach currently favours a 4-2-3-1, with Mbappé up front, Bellingham restored to a more advanced No. 10 role and Vinícius and Diomande attacking from the wings. The question is no longer whether Madrid have enough individual quality. It is whether Mourinho can unleash all four without sacrificing the balance behind them.
We may get the first answer tomorrow. All four have been included in Real Madrid’s official squad for the friendly against Schalke 04, which kicks off at 17:00 CEST at the VELTINS-Arena. It is Madrid’s final preseason test before competitive football begins. Mourinho wanted his stars back. Now he has them — and €590 million worth of attacking talent to arrange.
