Real Madrid arrive in germany. They won 6-1 and 2-0 at this stadium
Real Madrid have arrived in Germany for their final test of the summer. José Mourinho’s squad landed in Düsseldorf after a two-and-a-half-hour flight before travelling to the Hyatt Regency hotel. The team will head to Gelsenkirchen on Sunday to face Schalke 04 at 5:00 pm CEST.
Mourinho has selected 23 players. Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, Thibaut Courtois and Vinícius Júnior are included alongside summer signings Yan Diomande, Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva. It will be the final opportunity to test the rebuilt squad before the competitive season begins.
Aurélien Tchouaméni and Endrick have not travelled after working indoors during the final training session. Éder Militão, Rodrygo, Ferland Mendy, Raúl Asencio and Thiago Pitarch are continuing their respective recovery programmes.
Real Madrid have particularly good memories of the Veltins-Arena. They have played two competitive matches at the stadium and won both: 6-1 in 2014, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale scoring twice each, and 2-0 a year later through goals from Ronaldo and Marcelo. Sunday’s game is only a friendly, but Madrid could hardly have chosen a venue with a better history.
