Álvarez camp reportedly holds messages about an Atlético exit promise
Atlético refuses Barcelona talks over Julián Álvarez as conflicting accounts emerge about an earlier understanding with the striker.
Julián Álvarez’s proposed move to Barcelona has reached another stage: arguing over what the player was actually promised. There is still no agreement on a transfer, but plenty of people are available to interpret the conversations.
Jota Jordi claims Álvarez’s camp holds messages concerning a promise to help him leave, with Gil Marín aware that Barcelona was his preferred destination. Fellow El Chiringuito panellist Pipi Estrada offered a different account: assistance did not mean approval for Barcelona. The correspondence was not shown in ElDesmarque’s report.
Atlético’s public position is clear. Its board unanimously backed the refusal to negotiate with Barcelona. An official club statement accused the Catalan club of failing to meet its standards for ethical and professional dealings. That is Atlético’s allegation, not an independent finding.
There is therefore no basis yet to declare that evidence of a broken promise has been revealed. The full terms of any earlier understanding remain unknown. Barcelona needs an agreement with Atlético. Another television debate about who said what is not quite the same thing.
