Silva wins the ball. Rodri gets the glowing reviews
Bernardo Silva made four tackles and three interceptions against Sociedad. Rodri’s brief Barcelona debut already attracted glowing coverage.
Bernardo Silva’s four tackles and three interceptions took a back seat to Real Madrid’s attacking display. Rodri played roughly half an hour for Barcelona and already prompted talk of great nights ahead. The midfielder is still settling in. The praise apparently needs no preparation.
Silva started Madrid’s 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad. Managing Madrid highlighted his defensive contribution: four tackles and three interceptions. He helped recover possession while Mbappé, Bellingham and Vinícius handled the more spectacular part of the evening.
Sofascore gave Silva a 7.0 rating. It was a solid midfield performance, the value of which cannot be reduced to goals and assists.
Rodri came off the bench against Athletic with Barcelona already leading 1-0. Barça went on to win 2-0. He received a warm welcome from the crowd, then spoke about finding his rhythm and adapting to his teammates, as recorded in the club’s official report.
AS listed 29 touches and 88% passing accuracy. It noted that he had completed only three full-team training sessions, before presenting the debut as the first of many great nights. A generous review for a short appearance.
There is no reason to write Rodri off after coming on as a substitute. The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner has an established record, and Silva played a different opponent under different circumstances, starting the match.
The praise can still be kept in proportion. Silva gave Madrid tangible defensive work. Rodri got his first minutes and an opportunity to rebuild his sharpness. Turning that immediately into a great night does more for the story of the signing than for an honest assessment of the performance.
