Álvarez could change agents as family reportedly explores options
Julián Álvarez’s family is reportedly speaking with other agents, raising questions over Fernando Hidalgo’s future as the Atlético striker’s representative.
Barcelona still have not signed Julián Álvarez, and the transfer saga could now cost Fernando Hidalgo a major client. According to Marca, the striker’s family has been speaking with other agents and listening to their proposals.
ElDesmarque, citing the Spanish newspaper, reports that those discussions involve representatives from Argentina, Spain and elsewhere. The story concerns a possible change of agent. It does not establish that Álvarez has ended his relationship with Hidalgo or selected a replacement.
Hidalgo reportedly played an active role in trying to arrange the forward’s move to Barcelona. Marca links the uncertainty over his position to that operation’s failure to materialise.
The report follows Thursday’s comments from Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, who accused people involved in the situation of misleading the player. Marca interprets those remarks as referring to Hidalgo as well. That remains the newspaper’s interpretation, not proof that the agent deceived his client.
Any new representative would inherit the same obstacle: Atlético officially refuse to negotiate with Barcelona. The board unanimously backed that position in a statement issued on August 27, as reported by EFE. A possible change of agent is therefore no reason to declare a move to Barça close again.
