Roma make Endrick a January priority, but Real Madrid remain in control
Roma reportedly want Endrick in January, but no agreement or loan terms have been reached with Real Madrid, who retain control of his future.
AS Roma are preparing to revive their interest in Endrick when the January transfer window opens. “Corriere dello Sport” reports that the Brazilian forward has become a priority for the Italian club and that the interest may be mutual.
That does not mean a transfer has been agreed. There is no confirmed deal with Real Madrid, no accepted loan proposal and no official statement from Endrick announcing his intention to leave. Roma have a target. Madrid still have the player and the final decision.
ROMA PLACE ENDRICK HIGH ON THEIR LIST
According to “Corriere dello Sport”, Roma sporting director Tony D’Amico has already started planning the club’s winter business. Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad still needs another attacking option, and Endrick is emerging as one of the main candidates.
Roma also explored a move during the summer window. The Italian report claims that José Mourinho and the player preferred to postpone any decision until January, allowing Endrick to compete for a role at Real Madrid before reconsidering his situation.
The newspaper goes further by reporting that the 20-year-old has told friends that Roma represent a very concrete possibility. A move would allow him to join fellow Brazilian Wesley in the Italian capital. However, this is information attributed to people around the player, not a public commitment made by Endrick himself.
NO AGREEMENT WITH REAL MADRID
No deal has been reached at this stage. Roma have not announced an agreement, Real Madrid have not approved the player’s departure and Endrick has not formally requested a transfer.
A loan is mentioned as one possible formula, but the current report provides no confirmation of an agreed purchase option, obligation to buy or financial package. Roma’s position in Serie A and the Champions League in January could also influence their plans.
Most importantly, Real Madrid would have to consider the proposal worthwhile. The Spanish club are under no pressure to accept the first available route simply because another team have labelled Endrick a priority.
AC Milan are also reported to be monitoring his playing time. The Italian interest reflects the forward’s reputation and potential, but it does not change Madrid’s strong negotiating position.
MOURINHO CHOSE TO KEEP HIM
Real Madrid had opportunities to send Endrick out again during the summer. Mourinho nevertheless made his position clear, publicly stating that he did not want the forward sold or loaned. He praised the Brazilian’s talent and wanted to assess him after his return from Olympique Lyon.
Endrick spent the second half of last season in France, recording eight goals and eight assists in 21 appearances. The loan gave him the regular football he had struggled to find during his first spell in Madrid and helped him return as a more experienced player.
His attitude also strengthened his case. Endrick shortened his holiday to begin working with Mourinho earlier and scored against Fiorentina during pre-season. Madrid therefore chose development inside their own squad over another immediate loan.
HIS MINUTES WILL SHAPE THE JANUARY DECISION
An injury has prevented Endrick from making his mark at the start of the campaign. He was not included in Real Madrid’s squad to face Real Betis, although Mourinho had recently described him as the injured player closest to returning.
Once fully fit, the Brazilian will have to compete for minutes in an attack that also includes Kylian Mbappé, Carlos Espí and Yan Diomande. His position in that rotation over the coming months will determine whether a temporary move becomes useful.
A January loan could make sense if it guarantees meaningful playing time without weakening Madrid’s long-term control. It would not represent the club giving up on Endrick. His previous spell at Lyon already demonstrated how a carefully selected loan can support his development before a return to the Santiago Bernabéu.
For now, Roma’s interest is real enough to follow but not advanced enough to call an operation. The Italian club can make Endrick their priority. Real Madrid will decide whether that priority ever becomes available.
