Dean Huijsen maintains his level ahead of the Inter clash

Dean Huijsen has played every minute of Real Madrid’s opening four LaLiga fixtures in the 2026/27 season. The centre-back also delivered another composed performance during Friday’s 1-0 defeat away to Real Betis.

The loss in Seville ended José Mourinho’s perfect start to the league campaign, but Huijsen was once again among Madrid’s more reliable performers. FotMob gave him a 7.5 rating, matching the score he received following the 4-0 victory over Málaga.

FOUR STARTS AND 360 MINUTES

Real Madrid’s official statistics show that Huijsen has started all four league matches and completed the full 360 minutes. He has made 289 passes and registered 16 ball recoveries during that run.

FotMob records 278 successful passes at an accuracy rate of 96.2 per cent. The 21-year-old has also won 16 duels, including nine aerial contests, while producing six interceptions and 20 clearances. He is yet to receive a yellow or red card this season.

His match ratings underline that consistency. Huijsen scored 7.1 against Espanyol, 7.8 against Real Sociedad and 7.5 in both the Málaga and Betis fixtures. His average after four rounds consequently stands at 7.5.

A POSITIVE DESPITE THE RESULT

Madrid were beaten at Estadio La Cartuja by Troy Parrott’s 81st-minute goal. Kylian Mbappé later hit the crossbar and had a stoppage-time penalty saved, while Carlos Espí’s spectacular finish was ruled out for offside.

The outcome was disappointing for Mourinho’s side, but it did little to undermine Huijsen’s encouraging start. Madrid have conceded three goals across the opening four league games, with the Spanish defender establishing himself as one of the most dependable members of the back line.

That stability is valuable ahead of the Champions League opener against Inter at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday. With Huijsen maintaining his form and rhythm, Mourinho has a convincing reason to keep faith with him in the centre of defence.
