Real Madrid have Europe’s most valuable squad ahead of City, PSG and Barcelona
Real Madrid’s squad has been valued at €1.46 billion, placing the Spanish club ahead of Manchester City, PSG, Arsenal and Barcelona.
Real Madrid enter the new Champions League campaign with the most valuable squad in Europe and the world. Transfermarkt currently estimates the combined market value of the first-team players at €1.46 billion, placing Madrid ahead of Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.
MADRID LEAD THE RANKING AT €1.46 BILLION
Manchester City sit second with a squad valued at €1.43 billion. The gap is only €30 million, but it is enough to put Real Madrid at the top of a ranking dominated by Europe’s wealthiest clubs.
Paris Saint-Germain are third on €1.36 billion, followed by Arsenal at €1.33 billion. Barcelona occupy fifth place with a valuation of €1.26 billion. Bayern Munich, at €1.04 billion, and Liverpool, at €1.03 billion, complete the group of seven squads worth more than €1 billion.
Madrid’s estimated squad value is therefore €200 million higher than Barcelona’s. That difference does not settle matches, but it provides a clear picture of the sporting assets available to each club.
VALUE THROUGHOUT THE SQUAD
Madrid’s position cannot be attributed to a single star. The squad contains highly valued players across different areas of the pitch, combining established leaders with younger footballers who still have considerable room to develop.
Transfermarkt’s figures are estimates rather than transfer fees. Factors such as age, performances, potential, contract length, position and demand are considered when assigning a player’s market value.
A valuable squad is not a trophy and offers no protection against a poor result. It does, however, demonstrate the scale and depth of the sporting resources Madrid have assembled.
DIFFERENT RANKINGS, THE SAME LEADER
The €1.46 billion figure refers only to the estimated market value of the playing squad. It should not be confused with the value of the club itself or its commercial brand.
Brand Finance valued the Real Madrid brand at €2.4 billion in its 2026 report. Madrid finished first for the third consecutive year and were also named football’s strongest brand for a fifth straight year.
Forbes uses another methodology and valued the entire club at $9.5 billion in May. Real Madrid topped that ranking for the fifth year in succession and for the tenth time in 13 editions.
The three figures measure different things and should not be compared directly. Their leader, however, does not change. Real Madrid currently possess the most valuable playing squad, football’s most valuable brand and the highest-valued football club in the Forbes ranking.
