Tchouaméni will play against Elche as Mourinho plans another increase in workload
José Mourinho has confirmed that Aurélien Tchouaméni will play against Elche as Real Madrid gradually increase the midfielder’s workload.
Aurélien Tchouaméni will take another step towards full fitness in Real Madrid’s match against Elche. José Mourinho confirmed that the French midfielder would feature on Tuesday, although he did not reveal how many minutes he would receive or whether he would start.
“He is improving, feeling stronger and gaining confidence. He will play tomorrow. At this moment, I cannot say for how long,” Mourinho explained.
A CONTROLLED RETURN TO ACTION
Real Madrid have followed a gradual plan with Tchouaméni instead of immediately exposing him to a full match. The midfielder played approximately 10 to 15 minutes against Inter before receiving around 20 to 25 minutes in the victory over Rayo Vallecano.
The visit to the Martínez Valero will be the next stage. His playing time is expected to increase again, but the final decision will depend on the player’s condition and how the match develops.
AN APPEARANCE IS CONFIRMED, A START IS NOT
Mourinho’s statement should not be interpreted as confirmation that Tchouaméni will be included in the starting eleven. The coach only guaranteed that the midfielder would play some part in the match.
With Real Madrid facing a demanding schedule, the coaching and medical departments continue to monitor the players’ physical feedback and training data. That approach allows Tchouaméni to regain rhythm without taking an unnecessary risk.
AN IMPORTANT OPTION RETURNS
Tchouaméni’s availability gives Mourinho greater flexibility in midfield. Real Madrid can operate with one holding midfielder and two players further forward, or use a more secure structure with additional protection in the centre.
The Frenchman offers physical strength, ball-winning ability and cover in front of the defence. His return also allows Mourinho to distribute responsibilities differently between Federico Valverde, Bernardo Silva, Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga.
For now, the recovery plan is moving in the right direction. Tchouaméni has completed two appearances, his minutes are increasing and Mourinho believes his confidence is returning. Elche will provide the next test, without any need to rush him into playing the full match.
