Raphinha stops scoring, so Barcelona finds him a new crown
Raphinha failed to score against Levante but provided two assists. He now has six goals and three assists after five LaLiga matches.
Raphinha failed to score for the first time this season, but the Barcelona media ecosystem did not need long to find another category for him to lead. With his scoring streak over, the focus has moved smoothly from goals to goals and assists combined.
According to a comparison published by “Mundo Deportivo”, Raphinha currently has the highest number of direct goal contributions among the leading scorers in Europe’s five major leagues. After five LaLiga appearances, the Brazilian has six goals and three assists.
TWO ASSISTS REPLACE ANOTHER GOAL
Raphinha entered the match against Levante having scored in each of Barcelona’s first four league fixtures. He could not extend that run in Valencia, but he still played a central role in the 4-2 victory.
In the fifth minute, he supplied Xavi Espart for the opening goal. Fourteen minutes later, Raphinha created Barcelona’s second for Lamine Yamal. The Brazilian finished the match with two assists, three chances created, three successful dribbles and two attempts on goal.
It was not a poor performance disguised by a convenient statistic. Raphinha genuinely influenced the game and remained one of Barcelona’s most productive attacking players, even without adding his own name to the scoresheet.
NINE CONTRIBUTIONS TO 21 LEAGUE GOALS
Raphinha has been directly involved in nine of Barcelona’s 21 LaLiga goals this season. His total stands at six goals and three assists.
“Mundo Deportivo” compared those figures with the leading scorers in the Premier League, Serie A and Ligue 1. None of the names included in that comparison currently combines a similar scoring return with as many assists.
The context still matters. The season is only five league matches old, and the major European competitions have not all completed the same number of rounds. This is not an official award or a definitive continental ranking. It is an early snapshot of a very productive start from Raphinha.
THE RECORD NARRATIVE KEEPS MOVING
Before the Levante match, the discussion centred on whether Raphinha could become only the third Barcelona player to score in each of the opening five league games of a season. That run ended after four matches, but another statistical crown was ready almost immediately.
None of this should be held against the player. Raphinha does not produce the historical comparisons surrounding Barcelona; he simply keeps scoring, assisting and creating chances. The surrounding narrative is the part that appears to require a new record after almost every game — even when the previous one has just disappeared.
