Barcelona and Real Madrid reportedly submit offers for 15-year-old “Kid Messi”
Barcelona and Real Madrid have reportedly submitted offers for 15-year-old Manchester United prospect JJ Gabriel, with Madrid working on a deal.
Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have reportedly made offers for Manchester United academy prospect JJ Gabriel. According to information cited by The Athletic, Madrid are working on a deal for the 15-year-old and feel optimistic about their position. No agreement has been reached and none of the clubs involved has confirmed an offer.
REAL MADRID PUSHING FOR A DEAL
Gabriel has formally requested the cancellation of his Manchester United registration. The Old Trafford club still hope to convince him to stay, but several major European sides are monitoring the situation. Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have also been named among his suitors.
The strongest movement is reportedly coming from Madrid. The Athletic says Real are working on a deal and believe they can win the race, while AS reports that both Spanish giants have already submitted proposals. At this stage, these remain media reports rather than a completed transfer.
EUROPE’S GIANTS MOVE FOR A 15-YEAR-OLD
Gabriel can play from the left or as a number 10. He recorded 28 goals and six assists in 35 matches last season and became the youngest recipient of Manchester United’s Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award. In September, he scored a hat-trick against Sabah on his UEFA Youth League debut.
The England youth international turns 16 on October 6. His Irish passport could make a future move to the European Union easier, although Manchester United’s position and the relevant registration rules still have to be resolved.
BARCELONA JOIN THE QUEUE
A player nicknamed “Kid Messi” was never likely to escape Barcelona’s attention. This time, however, the Catalan club’s interest is reportedly more than a convenient headline: Barça are also said to have submitted an offer. No details of that proposal or a potential development plan have emerged.
For now, Real Madrid appear to have the clearer route. They are reportedly working on an agreement and remain optimistic, while Barcelona, Bayern, Paris Saint-Germain and English clubs are still in contention. The race has begun, but nobody has secured Gabriel’s signature yet.
