Barça Lose De Jong. Naturally, They Want Rodri
Frenkie de Jong’s injury has activated Barcelona’s emergency plan. According to Barca Blaugranes, citing RMC Sport, the club have contacted Rodri’s representatives. Because when one midfielder gets injured, the obvious response is to call one of the best players in the world.
Barcelona are not alone. Real Madrid and PSG are also monitoring the Spain international, while Manchester City want to extend his contract. Rodri is still recovering from back surgery and is expected to miss the start of the season. Barça have therefore identified an injured replacement for an injured player. Even the transfer rumours have to follow the club’s DNA.
There is no offer and no negotiation yet. Just a phone call, some interest and another grand transfer plan whose financial details can apparently be checked later. First comes the dream, then the leak, and only then does somebody ask about the price.
Rodri only needs to recover, reject City’s new contract, turn down Madrid and PSG, and wait for Barça to find the money. Practically signed, then.
