Barcelona spot another teenage “gem”. For now, they are only watching
Barcelona are reportedly monitoring Borussia Dortmund midfielder Justin Ejodamen, with Juventus and AC Milan also following the 15-year-old.
The summer window may be over, but Barcelona’s next shortlist is already taking shape. The latest name linked with the club is Justin Ejodamen, a 15-year-old central midfielder developing in Borussia Dortmund’s academy.
The headline sounds familiar: another highly rated youngster has appeared on Barcelona’s radar. The substance is rather more modest. There has been no reported offer, negotiation or agreement. At this stage, the story is about scouting.
THREE CLUBS ARE TRACKING EJODAMEN
Journalist Pete O’Rourke reports that Barcelona, Juventus and AC Milan are monitoring Ejodamen after his performances for Dortmund’s youth teams attracted attention.
Mundo Deportivo adds that Barcelona’s scouts have already compiled initial reports on the midfielder and intend to continue assessing his development. However, there is no indication that the Catalan club have contacted Borussia Dortmund, approached the player’s family or prepared a formal proposal.
“Transfer target” therefore requires some restraint. Ejodamen is currently a player Barcelona are watching, not someone they are actively negotiating to sign.
A VERSATILE MIDFIELDER WITH A GROWING REPUTATION
Reports describe Ejodamen as a versatile midfielder capable of operating in several central roles. His physical strength, close control, ability to reach the penalty area and powerful long-range shooting have all been highlighted. A goal struck from near the halfway line also helped his name circulate widely on social media.
That attention has not been limited to Barcelona. Juventus and Milan are both said to be following him, which is hardly unusual for a prominent prospect at one of Europe’s leading development clubs.
Major teams monitor large numbers of academy players every season. Only a small proportion of those scouting reports develop into offers. Barcelona’s media orbit, however, rarely needs much time to turn observation into the arrival of the next great prospect.
SPAIN TESTS WILL PROVIDE THE NEXT LOOK
The Italian Football Federation has officially included Ejodamen in its under-16 squad for two friendly matches against Spain. The games will be held at Coverciano on September 15 and 17.
Mundo Deportivo claims Barcelona’s scouts plan to follow him during those fixtures, giving them another opportunity to assess the midfielder against strong opposition from his age group.
For now, that is the full extent of the story. Barcelona are monitoring the player, two Italian clubs are reportedly doing the same and Dortmund remain responsible for his development. Until contact, talks or an offer emerge, this remains a scouting report rather than an active transfer operation.
