City Cool Barça’S Rodri Hype: Talks Are “not Active”
Manchester City do not currently consider talks with Barcelona over Rodri to be active, according to Sky Sports. Barça’s opening offer was reportedly worth around £40m and was viewed at the Etihad as far too low. Barcelona are considering another bid, but as things stand there are no active negotiations moving the deal forward.
That is quite a contrast to the growing optimism surrounding the story in Catalonia. Barça can make Rodri their priority, work on convincing the player and prepare another proposal. None of that changes the small detail that Manchester City still need to be convinced as well.
Rodri has one year remaining on his contract and City would like him to renew. The 30-year-old is due back in Manchester on Friday following his post-World Cup break, while Sky reports that Barcelona are considering their next offer.
So the Barcelona transfer machine is already running at full volume. Unfortunately for Barça, the actual negotiations appear to be several steps behind the headlines.
