Flick Admits Barça Must Do Something About Their Attack
Hansi Flick has apparently decided there is no point pretending any longer. “We know we have to do something,” the Barcelona coach admitted when asked about the lack of a centre-forward. According to Mundo Deportivo, the next move will also depend on Ferran Torres’ future, while Flick continues to place his full trust in Deco. The problem has now officially been identified. Only the slightly more difficult part of solving it remains.
Barcelona began pre-season without a replacement for Robert Lewandowski and finished their training camp in England in exactly the same position. For now, the emergency plan involves using Lamine Yamal, Anthony Gordon or Karim Adeyemi through the middle. Barça may not have a new number nine, but they do have three wingers who can be asked to impersonate one for a while.
Flick remains calm and has passed the ball to Deco. The sporting director must now find a striker, wait for Ferran’s decision and somehow fit the entire operation into the club’s financial limits. Barcelona still do not have the answer, but at least they have officially admitted there is a question.
