Inter wanted romero. Atlético join the race, while Barça watch
Cristian Romero could leave Tottenham, and there is no shortage of interest. Inter offered €35 million plus another €5 million in bonuses. According to “La Gazzetta dello Sport”, the clubs had even reached an agreement, but the Argentine’s salary demands — reportedly €6 million net per season — remained an obstacle.
Atlético have now entered the race. Isaac Suárez of “Marca” reports that Los Rojiblancos are preparing a €30 million offer, although Tottenham want around €40 million. Romero is said to prefer Atlético over Inter, largely because he has long wanted to work with his compatriot Diego Simeone.
Barcelona have also shown interest in the 28-year-old centre-back, but they have not opened any talks. While Inter submit an offer and Atlético prepare their own, Barça remain focused on strengthening the attack. Romero can choose between Milan and Madrid, while Barcelona keep doing what they do best in this transfer window — staying interested.
