Mbappé wants the Ballon d’Or for Real Madrid: “My feet are my best advocate”
Kylian Mbappé believes he can win the Ballon d’Or but says his priority is for the trophy to return to Real Madrid and the Bernabéu.
Kylian Mbappé has made no attempt to hide his belief that he belongs in the Ballon d’Or race. In a preview of his extensive interview with “AS”, the Real Madrid forward said this could be a good year for him to win the award. Yet he immediately made it clear that his main wish is to see the trophy return to the Santiago Bernabéu.
PERFORMANCES MUST MAKE THE CASE
“My view is that this is a good year to win it. My feet are my best advocate, no matter how much I talk,” Mbappé told José Félix Díaz, the editorial director of “AS”. The exchange was part of the Frenchman’s first interview with a Spanish sports newspaper.
The message was direct. Mbappé believes in his chances, but he does not want words alone to carry his campaign. His football must provide the decisive argument — a fitting position when discussing the game’s biggest individual prize.
AN AWARD FOR THE BERNABÉU AND MADRIDISTAS
Mbappé then shifted the focus from himself to the club. “The most important thing for me is for the Ballon d’Or to return to Real Madrid. It must return to the Bernabéu and to the madridistas, to give all those people something to celebrate. They deserve it more than anyone,” he said.
His personal ambition remains obvious, but it is presented as part of a wider objective. Mbappé wants to win, while also treating that victory as recognition for Real Madrid and its supporters. It is a mentality that fits a club where the highest honours are regarded as the standard rather than a distant dream.
RESPECT FOR A RIVAL
Lamine Yamal is among Mbappé’s rivals for the award, but the Real Madrid forward did not diminish the Barcelona youngster. He described Yamal as a highly talented player, predicted a great career for him and wished him well.
“AS” has so far released a preview, with the full interview scheduled for Thursday evening. The published excerpt already leaves little room for interpretation: Mbappé trusts his ability, wants his performances to speak and hopes football’s leading individual prize returns to Real Madrid.
