Real Madrid monitor Manu Koné, but not for this summer
Real Madrid are reportedly monitoring Roma midfielder Manu Koné. Reports mention €60m, while Mourinho says he has requested no further signings.
Manu Koné has emerged as a player of interest to Real Madrid. José Mourinho considers his squad complete, but the scouting department apparently did not go on holiday when the last contract was signed.
According to AS, the Frenchman is an option for future windows. Even a midfield departure this summer would not trigger a move for him. He should therefore not be presented as Camavinga’s ready-made replacement.
Juni Calafat’s department is monitoring Koné. Reports mention a potential fee of around €60 million, but no submitted offer. Giallorossi.net, citing the Spanish newspaper, also covers Madrid’s interest and that estimated price.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder is contracted to Roma until 30 June 2029, as confirmed by his agency, ESN. Roma are therefore not facing an urgent sale because his deal is about to expire.
Speaking on 25 August, Mourinho said he had made no requests for further signings. He acknowledged that an offer could arrive or a player might ask to leave, but stressed that he would prefer to retain his current squad. Cadena SER carried his comments.
For now, Koné remains a Roma player. Madrid’s interest is a media report, not an announcement that negotiations have begun.
