Tottenham prepare €65m Koundé bid. Barça face a familiar test
According to Mundo Deportivo, citing CaughtOffside and other reports from England, Tottenham are preparing a €65 million offer for Jules Koundé. Roberto De Zerbi reportedly admires the defender’s versatility, while Spurs are looking for reinforcements amid uncertainty surrounding Cristian Romero and Djed Spence.
Koundé joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2022 for around €50 million. He can play at centre-back or right-back, enjoyed a strong World Cup and remains under contract until June 2030. From Barça’s perspective, the answer should therefore be simple: he is important, tied down for years and not for sale. At Barcelona, however, “untouchable” often lasts only until the right offer touches the budget.
The club reportedly want to keep the Frenchman, despite also being linked with Romero. Selling a proven defender for €65 million and then spending the rest of the summer convincing his replacement that joining Barça has always been his dream would certainly fit the usual script. For now, Koundé is staying — at least until an actual offer lands on the table.
