United Could Snatch Salinas from Barcelona
Manchester United have entered the race for Jorge Salinas. According to The Sun, the English club view the 19-year-old Racing Santander left-back as an alternative to Lewis Hall and could trigger his €16 million release clause.
Barcelona have been negotiating for weeks but appear to have their own interpretation of the asking price. Instead of paying €16 million, Barça have offered around €6 million plus young players. Racing want cash, so the package of “some money, some La Masia and plenty of faith in the project” has not impressed them so far.
Salinas recorded six assists in 33 appearances last season and helped Racing win promotion. He also recently won the European Under-19 Championship with Spain. The player reportedly prefers Barcelona, but his club clearly prefer the full €16 million. If United pay the clause, Barça will be left with yet another player convinced by the project and yet another seller unconvinced by the offer.
