Vinícius Agrees Arsenal Terms. Barça Celebrate for Free
Vinícius Júnior has reportedly accepted the contract offered by Arsenal. The claim originated from the HandofArsenal account and was subsequently picked up by English outlets including The Sun and Arsenal Insider. This is only an agreement in principle with the player. Arsenal must still convince Real Madrid, otherwise known as the minor part where they actually have to pay for him.
The Brazilian’s contract expires in June 2027, with renewal talks stalled over his financial demands. Arsenal are reportedly prepared to make Vinícius the highest-paid player in their squad. The Telegraph previously reported a potential salary of around £400,000 per week. It would be an enormous investment, but Vinícius remains one of Europe’s most dangerous attackers. Last season, he completed 92 carries that ended in either a shot or a chance created—the highest total across Europe’s top five leagues. The Guardian
Barcelona should treat this news as their biggest transfer success of the summer. Vinícius could leave La Liga, Real Madrid would lose a star and Barça would not need to activate a single financial operation. Laporta may finally have discovered an affordable way to weaken his biggest rival: wait patiently for the Premier League to pay for it.
The transfer is still far from complete. Real first intend to hold crucial talks with Roc Nation and have reportedly given the player an ultimatum: renew or be sold this summer. If Arsenal complete the deal, Barcelona will surely add it to their list of strategic victories. The only awkward detail is that another club will have done all the work.
